College student has fatal reaction to brownie she got from friend

Hannah Glass, a 19-year-old freshman at Maranatha Baptist University, tragically passed away after suffering a severe allergic reaction to a homemade brownie on November 5, 2024. Despite being cautious about her peanut allergy, Hannah unknowingly consumed a brownie containing roasted peanut flour, which triggered an aggressive allergic reaction. After a violent reaction involving vomiting and hives, her condition worsened, causing her right lung to collapse and leading to a life-threatening anaphylactic episode.

Despite her father’s quick response and administering an EpiPen, Hannah lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital. Medical professionals fought to save her, but the brain damage from the lack of oxygen was terminal. She was placed on a ventilator but ultimately, on November 10, her family said their final goodbye after an emotional “Honor Walk,” where over 300 people paid tribute as she was taken for organ donation.

Hannah’s organs saved four lives, and her parents urge others to be vigilant about food allergies and ensure their EpiPens are up to date. The family expressed a mixture of sadness and comfort as they picked up her cremated remains, now cherishing the memory of their beloved daughter.
