A police car fatally struck 20-year-old Dion Lamar Taylor during a chase following a carjacking in Woodlawn. Taylor and two others fled from a stolen vehicle before Taylor was hit by a police cruiser on Highgate Drive.
Taylor’s mother, Teisha Cook, recalled desperately searching for her son, unaware he was trapped under the police car. Authorities stated that the officer did not intentionally hit Taylor and that proper protocol was followed.
One suspect, 16-year-old Taron Kelly, was ar. rested and charged with armed robbery, carjacking, and gun possession. The third suspect remains at large. The involved officer was placed on administrative leave, with an investigation ongoing.
