The hotel had seen every kind of guest, but Lina, the front desk manager, never forgot the two women who arrived one rainy evening with laughter and warmth. Since those items were included, Lina always provided more. The women were gracious and appreciative, making long shifts feel lighter. They weren’t typical tourists. They rarely went out, spent much of their time in their room, and occasionally declined housekeeping. Still, they were punctual with payments and kind to everyone.
On their final day, Lina decided to bring them small souvenir keychains as a thank-you for their long stay. When she entered their room, her smile vanished. Lined neatly along the walls were dozens of tiny shampoo bottles and soap bars, stacked carefully like miniature towers. For a moment, Lina wondered if she had the wrong room. The women sat on the bed, smiling proudly.
Seeing her surprise, one explained they ran a small shelter for homeless families back home. Each month, they collected supplies, asking politely for hotel items that would otherwise be replaced or discarded. Traveling between cities allowed them to gather necessities to distribute to people in need.
