TV star dies in plane crash after posting haunting last pic of aircraft!

The Mexican media community has been left reeling by the sudden and heartbreaking death of Debora Estrella, a 43-year-old journalist and cherished television anchor, who tragically lost her life in a plane crash during her very first flying lesson. Known for her warmth, charisma, and professionalism, Estrella was not only a familiar presence on national broadcasts but also an admired figure for her dedication and passion.

A Journey Shaped by Dedication

For countless households across Mexico, Estrella was more than a journalist—she was a trusted companion in daily life. Her career began in 2014 at TV Azteca, where her charm quickly captivated viewers as a weather presenter. Within two years, her natural talent propelled her to Multimedios Televisión and then to Milenio Televisión, one of the nation’s leading news outlets.

By 2018, Estrella had become the main anchor of Telediario Matutino on Channel 6, a position that secured her as one of the most respected voices in Mexican media. Her approachable style and confident delivery built a deep trust with audiences, while colleagues admired her leadership, encouragement, and ability to guide younger journalists through the pressures of the newsroom.

A Dream Beyond the Cameras

Away from television, Estrella carried another dream: flying. Friends revealed that she had recently begun lessons to earn her pilot’s license, chasing not just a hobby but the thrill of freedom in the skies.

On September 20, 2025, she stepped into a small Cessna aircraft in García, Nuevo León, alongside 28-year-old flight instructor Bryan Ballesteros. It was meant to be another lesson in the basics of aviation. Minutes later, tragedy struck.

The Crash in Nuevo León

The two-seater plane went down near the Ciudad Mitras Industrial Estate. Both Estrella and Ballesteros lost their lives. While the cause remains under investigation, eyewitness footage circulating online appeared to show the aircraft spiraling out of control before impact.

Adding to the heartbreak, Estrella had posted a lighthearted Instagram story just hours earlier showing the plane with the caption: “Guess what.” A playful moment has now taken on haunting significance for her grieving fans.

Tributes and Grief

Her former husband, journalist Jose Luis Garcia, was among the first to report on the accident—without realizing at first that Estrella herself was a victim. Colleagues across networks shared their grief, including Maria Julia Lafuente, who broke down on live television:

“How can I say, ‘Good morning, happy Sunday,’ when our souls are shattered? She taught us to live life fully, to cherish every moment.”

Fans also filled social media with tributes, remembering her trademark smile and her ability to make news feel personal.

A Possible Act of Heroism

One eyewitness suggested Estrella and her instructor had tried to steer the failing plane away from homes, preventing even greater tragedy:

“They must have known they wouldn’t survive, but they still thought of protecting others. That’s an act of bravery.”

Her Final Words

The night before the accident, Estrella attended a friend’s birthday. Fellow journalist Víctor Martínez recalled with tears her final words:

“She told me, ‘I’ve started flying, and one day we’ll fly together.’ We promised to see each other soon. Now she’s gone.”

A Legacy Beyond the Screen

Estrella’s death leaves an enormous void in journalism and in the hearts of her viewers. She symbolized strength, joy, and resilience. Her legacy will live on in those she inspired—aspiring reporters, colleagues who shared her laughter, and fans who felt a bond with her every time she appeared on their screens.

As one tribute read: “Fly high, Debora. Rest in peace.”
