Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland dies at 24

The Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland has died at the age of 24. He played as late as Monday, scoring his first touchdown of the Monday Night Football loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Dallas Cowboys announced Kneeland’s passing on Thursday.

“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the team said. “Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”

The news was also confirmed by Kneeland’s agent on X. The NFL said in a statement that it has been in contact with the Dallas Cowboys, offering its support to the players and staff.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the passing of Cowboys’ Marshawn Kneeland,” the league said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina, family, friends, and his teammates.”

A Michigan native, Marshawn Kneeland played college football for Western Michigan from 2019 to 2023. He was chosen as the No. 56 pick in the 2024 draft, appearing in 11 games as a rookie. In 2025, he played in seven games, starting three.
