The King’s Luxurious Custom Jet
Renowned for more than just his iconic voice and electrifying stage presence, Elvis Presley also had a remarkable taste for luxury and design, best exemplified in his private jet.
A Customized Lockheed Jetstar
In 1962, Elvis Presley commissioned a Lockheed Jetstar, uniquely tailored to his refined preferences. The customized design featured elegant mahogany paneling, plush crimson velvet sofas, and luxurious carpeting—each element reflecting Presley’s impeccable style. The sheer opulence and intricate details of the jet’s interior would impress even the most discerning critics.
After Presley’s passing in 1977, the aircraft remained in storage for over three decades, later becoming a popular roadside attraction in Roswell, New Mexico. However, a recent auction saw the jet fetch an impressive $260,000, with an anonymous Elvis fan securing this remarkable piece of history via telephone bid.
The Pinnacle of Airborne Luxury
Elvis and his father, Vernon Presley, must have been in awe the first time they stepped into their lavish private jet. Every detail was meticulously curated to ensure a travel experience fit for royalty. It’s no wonder that this aircraft has become a lasting symbol of Presley’s extravagant lifestyle.
Named “Lisa Marie” in honor of Presley’s daughter, the jet sat untouched for over thirty years in a remote New Mexico location. While the exterior has developed a slightly faded red hue over time, the aircraft remains in surprisingly good condition.
