‘The Voice’ Star Opens up on the Tragic Accident That Left Her Husband Paralyzed

Back in April 2013, the Australian version of The Voice kicked off the second season of the show. Although coaches like Keith Urban didn’t return for the season, the producers welcomed Ricky Martin to the lineup. Over the weeks, fans watched as singers like Emma Pask showcased their talents and advanced to the next round. In the end, singer Harrison Craig won the competition. While continuing to explore a career in music, Pask recently discussed her husband’s determination after he suffered a tragic accident that left him paralyzed.

In December 2023, Pask’s life changed when her husband, Rodrigo Ocana, was paralyzed after a motorbike accident. During his recovery, Ocana was treated for broken ribs, shattered shoulder blade, broken arm, broken back, and even a fractured sternum. But no matter the challenges he faced, Ocana never stopped pushing.

Sharing a post on her Instagram, Pask praised those who supported them over the last year. “For getting us through the past year, it goes back to the beginning. A young woman and her boyfriend, who were first at the scene of Rod’s accident. They stayed with him and comforted him as much as they could whilst waiting for the ambulance.”

As for those closest to her, Pask continued, “Our dear friends and family all rallied around us and offered, and continue to offer, so much care and support.” The singer also thanked the medical staff at the Royal North Shore hospital. “The wonderful team at Royal North shore hospital. From the surgeons and medical team to the ICU nurses and rehab staff. Then moving to the Prince of Wales Hospital for 7 months and all the medical team there, incredible nurses, our supportive social worker an the physio/rehab team.”

‘The Voice’ Star Emma Pask Celebrates The Power Of Love On Anniversary

Just a few weeks ago, Pask posted a picture of the two together when celebrating their anniversary. She wrote, “To my incredible husband, Rod—this anniversary isn’t just about marking the passing of time but celebrating the remarkable progress you’ve made in your recovery and the unwavering determination you’ve shown through every challenge you’ve faced.”

With Pask discussing the power of love, she insisted, “This year, I’ve witnessed the power of love, hope, and relentless spirit. It’s a reminder that no matter how hard life hits, there is always room for healing, growth, and a brighter tomorrow. I love you endlessly, and I’m so proud of how far you’ve come.”
